Utilities
Utilities, Zawyeh Gallery, Dubai, 2023.
The politics of infrastructure and collapse.Essential infrastructures—water, electricity, solar energy—mediate control, survival, and exclusion. Often unnoticed until they fail, these systems expose the fragility of governance and economic stability. Drawing from Foucault’s concept of biopolitics, the project highlights how states regulate populations through access to resources, turning infrastructure into both a tool of control and a site of crisis. Informing Power Shifts (2023-24) at the Sharjah Architecture Triennial, Utilities exposes infrastructural collapse as an active mechanism of governance—determining who has access, who adapts, and who is left abandoned.
